That’s awful.
We really need to start thinking hard about how we have built our world. Both capitalism and the existing “socialist” countries are utterly failing their people by any sane metric. Modern governance is failing every single one of us, and we need to figure out what works (in a way that’s free from ideological baggage - just in real practical terms) and go from there. It is abundantly clear that what we’re ALL doing just isn’t working for any of us.
Wow. I would have thought and open pit mine would be less likely to collapse, but I guess I was wrong. That’s a tremendous amount of moving earth!

And for a coal mine, too… an energy source that by all rights should have been phased out by now.
