Drinking heavy water

Molecular shape does matter for biology. The major reason for the difference in biological impact of saturated vs unsaturated fats is that the straight-line structure of saturated fats allows them to pack more densely than the crooked structures found in unsaturated fats.

I have a friend who has a license to work with Tritium. There is a lot of cost and paper work evidently.

Did he… did he say he’s saving his urine to get the heavy water back…?

Whether drinking heavy water will kill you or not is a topic often discussed among scientists who do neutron scattering. Also deuterium is a useful replacement for hydrogen in water and other molecules for neutron scattering because it has a very different scattering cross section.

“The Heavy Water War” was a good netflix series about the same deal.

You can’t taste nuclei. Any taste is either contaminant or imaginary.

Although you can smell them. Deuterated musk compounds smell ‘burnt’ in comparison to their hydrogenated equivalents. There’s apparently also a noticeable difference between the smell of sulphur-32 and sulphur-34 compounds

Wow. I just looked this up, read through the comments, and said to myself “Wow. Y’all some nerds.”

Now, who wants to come visit me in my glass house and check out this super cool trebuchet I’ve just built? Because it can throw the hell outta some stones.

Too late. I have already been categorised as jackass, and I believe the union of the sets is empty, because a nerd is knowledgeable about something, whereas a jackass is knowledgeable about nothing.
