While not nearly as weird as this, I once saw Robert Fripp on a tour (of record stores, oddly enough) demonstrating how to use a couple of tape decks for live looping. He then kindly invited us all to his room at the Driskill later that evening. Pretty neat.
And except for the brutish digital compression and encoding required for a YouTube video. Which actually makes it much more “digital” than a halfway decent virtual analog synth.
