There’s something especially distasteful about what I can only describe as some sort o narcissist’s historiography.
He’s admitted that it did happen; but wasn’t that bad; not that it would be a big deal if it was; and (while it wasn’t that bad) it was fixed thanks to several white presidents so it’s not his fault; and it was only fixed after they’d humbled themselves and abandoned their unspecified wicked ways; so they deserved it.
I wouldn’t necessarily expect them to be less dangerous; but the ones who are more or less forthright about the fact that they see no need to justify the exercise of power are at least honest in a way that guys like this are not.
It’s just straight up Lost Cause mythos…
Literally nothing that comes out of that cesspool surprises me.
