My local coffee shop/deli in my little town has a framed copy [cover?] of Scientific America (??) from that period that appears to be a very early description of tornados with what I assume to be an illustration. I will try to get down there tomorrow and snap a shot to share with the group.

There were plenty of fake stereo stereoscope slides going around. Even a little collection like mine ends up with a few. Some scenes were too sellable to scruple over little details like whether it’s 3D or not.

Even the good old View-Master folks used flat images to fill out a set of pix of Abe Lincoln. Seems clear enough there weren’t 21 real stereo slides of the man, but you’ve gotta sell something.
