Thanks! I exercised patience this time. Hard to do with two little kids latched on…
Update 2 for ATX. Cloud cover seems about the same, perhaps cloudier then earlier
Figures. Anytime anything interesting happens in space, southeast Michigan is covered in clouds.
@GospelX: If you came from Michigan, “locked in” might be an understatement.
Oooh look at all that traffic!
Holy Toledo
Images from GOES-16. You can see the moon’s shadow starting to move eastward over the pacific towards Mexico
Yeah, thinking I-94 is going to start backing up within the next hour. I zoomed out a bit too far to see it, but US-24 (AKA - Telegraph) is backing up, too.
We learned our lesson from the 2017 eclipse when we got stuck in the car for 13 hours driving back from Portland to Tacoma. We found ourselves a nice Airbnb in Toledo a few minutes from the University. Even in bad traffic afterward we should be able to complete our 2 mile drive in about an hour.
It’s completely clear RN here in Midtown Detroit.
It begins!!!
Yay! The cloud cover is thin enough to see. The clouds moving across look cool too
Ok. Maybe I spoke too soon looks like it will be variable. Which makes sense. But I did get to see some of it!
Thin upper level clouds have moved into A2. It’s getting grayer by the minute.
On the bright side, the traffic backup on US-23 south has moved south.
Don’t forget to put it back on your head after the eclipse is over!
Trees are awesome too. The first eclipse I remember I was sitting under a tree during lunch, surrounded by mini eclipses.
The traffic around Austin is actually less than usual.
The highschool athletic fields are about 2 blocks away with only one row of houses between. I can hear students being loud over there
Of course I will! What kind of Moranis do you think I am?
(Not the kind who is planning to buy a plant of unknown origin in the next few minutes, that’s for sure)
