What does “opf” mean anyway

It’s short for “open face”, which is I guess yet another way to describe it besides double-struck and blackboard bold.

I believe it’s actually “Open Path Font,” which refers to a font where a stroke can consist of a single vector path instead of a closed shape. For example, a lowercase sans-serif “l” looks like a straight line but in most fonts it’s actually a tall skinny rectangle. In an Open Path Font it could just be defined as a line connecting two endpoints.

That could make sense too. I was going based on things like ISOMOPF Characters and Glyphs. The other M sets go with the description of letters – ISOMFRK for frak, ISOMSCR for script – and here that’s open face.

That was the first thing I wondered about. I assume they are just going to unilaterally reassign it without compensation

Sort of. Many of us have been haranguing him about still being there and indulging his love of popularity, but this response is a big soft pedal. He’s leaving, but not really. And not because Musk is a fascist, but because reasons.

(To be clear, I’m a big Scalzi fan and have been a reader of his blog and books for fifteen years. However on this one issue he’s been on the wrong side all along. All his stated reasons for staying boil down to “I really like having 200k people listen to my quips”)
