We know somebody’s got a Bigot Bat Signal going somewhere out there; just by the noticeable uptick in suspicious n00b accounts, and by old long-dormant accounts suddenly ‘springing back to life’ whenever certain incendiary topics get posted here.

I hope that’s confirmed by an actual news organization, and not just an echo quoting TMZ. They are notoriously bad at getting the facts right, and also run planted stories now and then. I doubt that’s the case here, but TMZ is a cesspool that taints everything they run.

Empire never seemed like the type of show I’d really be into (though my parents and one of my sisters watch it and some of the other shows like it – namely Power and Star) but I always admired it for choosing not to shy away from the fact that its characters, and by extension its cast members, existed within the shared space between being black and LGBTQ+.
I hope he’s doing okay. We’ve already seen enough folks like us suffer.

If they’re monitoring white men - Google Search then Boing Boing is the third result. If they search “All” instead of “News” it’s the fourth result. They don’t have to watch Boing Boing specifically.

Let’s face it, the Venn diagram of “people who commit hate crimes” and “MAGA assholes” is almost concentric circles. Really the only issue is if they indicate such during the hate-crime.
You know what’s even worse? News outlets calling this attack “racially charged” instead of “racist.” Like, you won’t be called “racist” even if you attack a black man while shouting the n-word and trying to lynch him, literally the most racist thing one could possibly do.

in times and places of civility and reason the good rise above such vulgar expressions and let them fall flat in their ignorance.
in darker times, where that civil way of life is threatened, the good must regrettably don the punching gloves and protect what is right by punching evil to keep it from rising up to a position of power.
judging by whom is in power, i’d say it couldn’t hurt to dust off and oil the leather on the ol gloves just in case they become required at any moment, like several years ago.
