I have one. You WILL love it.

I hate these things. The sweepstakes that is, not the Teslas. I’d love a Tesla. But I refuse to enter these stupid sweepstakes and give them the ability to market crap at me like crazy.

I’ll do it only if it’s the tesla held together with metal strapping, furniture pieces and duct tape. I don’t want the updated version that uses all the engineers “second” choices.

I guess it goes without saying that they aren’t giving away a $38,000 car unless they think they can get at least $38,000 worth of marketing leads out of the deal.

Yeah, and you have to pay income tax on the declared value of the prize. So it’s free, but also not without cost to the winner. Getting cash is better because you can pay taxes out of the winnings and there is no discrepancy between the declared, often inflated, value of the prize vs. what you would have paid in reality.

Meanwhile, not only do you have to agree to the terms of the contest, you also have to agree to Stack Social’s regular terms of service just to log in to enter:

By accessing and/or using the Network, you agree to the Terms of Use

StackSocial, Inc. dba StackCommerce (hereinafter “we” “our” or “us”) reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change, modify, add or remove portions of these Terms of Use, at any time.

So, by clicking on the link you agree to anything they ever decide to say.

The TOS are the kind of click wrap legal crap Cory and BB used to eat for breakfast, exposing just how terrible such presumptuous one sided legal “agreements” are.

Here is Cory’s sig scraped from the internet:

“READ CAREFULLY. By reading this email, you agree, on behalf of your employer, to release me from all obligations and waivers arising from any and all NON-NEGOTIATED agreements, licenses, terms-of-service, shrinkwrap, clickwrap, browsewrap, confidentiality, non-disclosure, non-compete and acceptable use policies (“BOGUS AGREEMENTS”) that I have entered into with your employer, its partners, licensors, agents and assigns, in perpetuity, without prejudice to my ongoing rights and privileges. You further represent that you have the authority to release me from any BOGUS AGREEMENTS on behalf of your employer.”
