I feel sorry for the people who have to make no-win decisions between medicine, rent, food, etc, but bastards like DeSantis shouldn’t have promised them something that wasn’t theirs to give as an easy fix.

I went to grad school in the brick building in the background of that photo. It used to be an armory (though still built after the Civil War in 1892).
I’d often see puzzled-looking tourists wandering around that square looking for the bench where Forrest Gump shared stories while waiting for the bus that would take him to Jenny’s place. I had to break it to a few of them that while they had the location right, the bench and bus stop were just props that were carted away after filming wrapped up.

There’s already 2 competing protest movements among GOP voters. One group telling people not to vote because it’s all rigged and something about Democrats tracking you that way. And one explicitly saying don’t vote in the Georgia runoffs to punish the GOP and McConnell for not backing Trump’s coup.
I’ve wondered how much Trump is deliberately playing into that. But provided he’s aware of it, there’s no question he’s happy about it.
