The sound supposedly generated by the parts that spin against rocks is dubbed. I wonder how much of the music is actually being generated by the machine.
The instructable says that he bought new solenoids from China. The model he recommends costs about $20 each, and it needs 12 of them- so it’s a rather expensive project.
