And I wonder how much it varied depending on who was reading the forms. Now, there’s probably a “zero tolerance” standard for interpretation - anything that uses key words (in any context) or is anything other than “no” for certain questions gets flagged for denial of entry.

It would be physically impossible for me not to use the phrase, “Tank you very much” at least a dozen times a day in that line of work.

I assure you, you would soon get over it. Just as one rapidly learns to resist the urge to make “humorous” remarks while security inspects under your car for bombs or listening/tracking devices.

My ingrained politeness is so deep, I’d be saying “you’re welcome” every time someone said “tanks”.
