They are actually worried about next generation disengagement from the platform.
It’s not only been around long enough to become “not cool or leading edge”, but also aving to share a platform with the crazies and the relatives? Why not just set up your own discord server instead?

I’m watching The Social Dilemma on Netflix. Listening to some of the guys behind the rise of social media giants as they describe the monsters they created and their concerns about how they are being used or abused is really sobering. Since these are former employees, I wonder about even worse tactics coming from the next generation of engineers, designers, and marketing consultants. The folks on the side of ethical behavior have been losing for more than a decade. There’s nothing most of these firms won’t do to keep a captive audience, and using schools as a way to gain new eyeballs is a proven strategy.
