I understand the argument that people owning stock in their own company gives them an incentive to make sure the company performs well, but does anyone have an ELI5 for why this isn’t simply the most inside of insider trading? It would seem like that hazard of the latter would handily outweigh the benefits of the former…

I am unsure what method he is using to short circuit all the rules and whatnot about when he can and can’t sell. Usually, executives are on a published schedule, and Musk has sold on one before – but selling outside that schedule for emergency cash raises seems to come with a lot of questions.
