Why climate change? This is a subtropical disease. Louisiana, Gulf Coast kind of thing. Finding it in Nebraska is new, and should be concerning, but hardly shocking, as it’s range, like a lot of other tropical/subtropical bad actors, is expanding. As they are warning:

Health officials in Nebraska are urging residents to take precautions since Naegleria fowleri is being identified further north as previously cooler regions become warmer and drier.

Cases have been diagnosed as far north as Minnesota and Maryland,

Gnhaaahhhahhhh… Time to move to Nunavut. I’ll take my chances with Polar Bears. I’d rather if something was going to kill me, it be obviously much bigger than me, or be with a pack of its buddies. Sneaky deadly things need to stay in Australia…
