isn’t that a conservative content farm?
The same right-wing looney tunes Hillsdale College in Michigan that DeSantis is using as a model for destroying post-secondary education in Florida?
I wonder how the class on Georgia O’Keeffe will go.
Yes, they will… with a tarp.
Penipodes?
I think more than a content farm, they are involved in supporting and promoting All the Bad Things.
The very same.
Anecdotally, I was drawing a live, nude woman in an unaccredited art class at the age of 16 after submitting a permission slip from my parents – IN KANSAS!
Not Jon McNaughton?
Penipodes!*
I was giggling my head off when I went to the Vatican. The ceilings are covered in paintings of grumpy old white men, and allegorical young women with their breasts out. It feels a bit like I image the offices of Playboy Magazine would look.
Until the parents allow their kid to wear a rainbow shirt to school.
Nudity =/= porn
Nudity = no clothing
Porn = butt stuff
That’s the one.
Yeah, this guy’s relationship to parents ’ rights is the same one originalists have to the founding fathers’ intentions
And a non-trivial number of Catholics do object to nudity even in religious art in the Sistine Chapel and elsewhere. Remember how a whole bunch of old art got covered with fig leaves? Pope Clement XIII went nuts with that, among others.
Isn’t the Italian Renaissance, like, the pinnacle of all that Judeo-Christian culture these types always claim to fight for?
I feel like this should also be understood as conservatives proclaiming their victory over education. They can get any book banned, they can ban lessons on uncontroversial, classical art, there’s absolutely no limit to their power. I’ve assumed conservative legislatures would ban public and higher education before the end of the decade – this may mean they think they can shut down all schools before the end of the year…
But Florida looks like a huge droopy cock… ban the maps!
It feels a bit like I image the offices of Playboy Magazine would look.
“I’m going to go build my own Vatican, with blackjack and hookers!”
“It’s been done. Many times.”
I know at least some of the religious and historical arguments and origins behind it, but at a deep level I really, truly don’t understand how any parent can think they have rights over their children, rather than obligations to them.
