But also, is it really a surprise? Of course this was going to happen. When do they seize all his assets and throw him in jail for contempt until his fraud trial/conviction and 20 year prison sentence?

It seems like too little for destroying their lives.
Hurmph.
(Apology) Letter from Unity just showed up in my mailbox…
"We just shared an open letter on our blog about the changes we’re making to the Unity Runtime Fee pricing policy that we announced last week. These changes were made based on feedback from our community, and we want to ensure you’re aware. We also invite you to read the FAQ for more details. At a high level, this is what we’re changing:
We understand that you may still have questions after reading our letter and the FAQ. To get answers, we invite you to join us for a live fireside chat with Marc Whitten, President of Unity Create, hosted by Jason Weimann, industry veteran and content creator, on his YouTube channel, today at 4:00 pm ET/ 1:00 pm PT.
Thanks for creating with Unity, The Unity team"
Ohhhhh a fireside make-up chat! Can’t wait. /s
Reminds me of Laurie Anderson’s 2015 Habeas Corpus project…

Not so much angry about the verdict, but all the elements that led to that point. ![]()
more apologies from Unity…
darn it. i failed the malice vs. incompetence test. i assumed it was the former, when actually it was the latter. live and learn i guess. ( at least i will. unity execs probably not so much )

Saw this in person at the Hirshhorn last summer. Wow.
I don’t think you did, honestly.
This isn’t the first time Unity’s said they were going to do something, changed their minds, then ended up doing it anyway. Their asset store behavior alone is evidence they’re up to no good. They’ve had history in the developer community of being two faced with regards to statements vs actions.
I don’t think devs are going to fall for their mea culpa’s this time.
The TOS was stable before a few months ago. Why should we trust Unity again? He’s just giving mealy mouthed baloney until there’s something legally binding and all the old execs are gone.
Could you elaborate? I haven’t heard it before, I’m an enterprise dev, not a game one.
