Oh, this is rich. A living descendant and heir of Louis XVI of France, on hearing that a statue of his ancestor was slightly harmed during the Louisville protest, has posted a guillotine-worthy response on Twitter:
There is more and more evidence emerging that the burning in Minneapolis (and likely elsewhere) is being done by the same nutjobs with guns. This is part of their “boogaloo” strategy.
Have a fucking bake sale.
Minneapolis police are scumbags.
Wouldn’t put it past them they have plenty of violent fantasies they’ve already acted out.
Wow, that guy is so clueless it’s just stunning
I’m afraid?
Are you?
I’ve seen a lot of video and images of cops attacking people without provocation (including where I live), sometimes causing serious injury, and plenty of evidence of deliberate attacks on reporters: video like this, eye injuries, cameras broken because they were shot right in the middle of the lens…
Cops seem to be personally affronted by the protests - and responding by proving the protesters’ poor opinion of them to be right, ironically.
Unfortunately it turned out that they “saved” it in the sense that it won’t have to be removed, but it was completely destroyed and she’s permanently blind in that eye now. Given that she was wearing goggles, some cop must have shot her directly in the face with a “rubber” bullet.
They don’t though. Ironically if they did, there would be less police violence, as the rules of engagement are more restrictive for US soldiers, and there are actual consequences for breaking the rules. Former US soldiers are absolutely horrified watching how US police behave, as the police use surplus military hardware on the US population.
I think even the mayor and chief of police there would agree, given the struggles they’ve had to try to reform the department. The head of the union is openly a white supremacist…
Unfortunate further update:
If that’s the case, disband the union.
Kind of amazing that there are three replies and none give the answer. https://www.aclu.org/issues/criminal-law-reform/reforming-police/aclu-apps-record-police-conduct
Shit.
That’s horrible.
Rubber bullets are not tools for policing. They are tools of violent oppression: https://cain.ulster.ac.uk/issues/violence/rubberplasticbullet.htm
And the thugs who fire them whether paramilitary police or straight up military murderers will aim to blind, maim, and who cares kill once they have been set loose to fire live ammunition at civilians looking for justice.
Watch out for those Jaredites!
Promise to return the hand if Louis will agree to appear in person to have it shoved up his ass.
Yeah, and they’re popular with forces that want to present a “non-lethal” face to the world while killing their targets. They’re intended to be fired at (and bounced off of) the ground, but are pretty lethal when fired directly at someone (because they’re more accurately "rubber-coated bullets). So they’re incredibly easy to misuse - just aim the gun a little higher… and no one’s the wiser, except that the injuries caused are more severe.
