You gotta wonder how the negotiations play out to arrive at a figure like that.

Just another “cost of doing business” slap on the wrist. Sigh.

Sucks that the Dominion one didn’t go to trial, but maybe it’s just the first domino. :crossed_fingers:

I REALLLLLLLY hope they continue to go after Ghouliani, Powell and Jenna Ellis - who seems to be always get forgotten but was right there spewing lies.

Oh - and Trump and all his family members (except maybe Barron as he probably despises all of them and is plotting a tell-all autobiography).

A $787.5 million lying fee.

Shares of Fox Corp closed up slightly at $34 per share, but were down 1% in after-hours trading following disclosure of the settlement amount. Fox has cash on hand to pay for a settlement. It committed $3 billion to buy back shares in the first quarter after revenues beat estimates. Fox Corp CEO Lachlan Murdoch told Wall Street analysts in February that the company had about $4 billion cash on hand. -Reuters

There’s room for more dominos to fall. And then some.

Fox News: Owning the Libs for the low low price of $787,500.

I hope every one of those anchors realizes that they didn’t earn the money that was just spent on their behalf: Fox “News” now owns their souls completely, and I hope that the company will use that debt to cruelly apply leverage over them for the rest of their career.

in sure they’re all very sad.

carlson was making makes more than 6 million a year by 2019, plus his “books”, etc. bartiromo 10 million. they’re set for life no matter what happens to fox. and murdoch loves the money they make him… after all, he sanctioned the lies they were telling

more likely than not, they’ll all get gigantic bonuses this year

Well, hopefully these other lawsuits won’t be settled and buried with nary but a tepid “apology” for lying to support fascism…

You’re missing zeros - it’s $787,500,000… Still… they should have been made to make retractions ON THE NETWORK…

Wasn’t he already a squillionaire from inheriting who knows how much of the Swanson Food fortune?

That’s an especially confounding thing about that wigged fascist liar-- he was already filthy rich.

Hopefully it’ll be a bigger tap than Dominion.

They should have had to play them every freaking ad break until Murdoch and Carlson are dead.

Somehow, the settlement does not require Fox News to broadcast a statement that it lied.

Because Dominion doesn’t care that Fox lied. They care that the lies impacted their business and they cared about potential and real money that cost their private equity owners.

Yep. I suspect they settled for a pretty simple reason-- the possibility that they’d get less with a trial.

Hey look, Tucker apologized, kind of, it’s the closest we’ll get though.
