Ah, so you’re going to WRITE a good book. I look forward to reading it!
Ha! Not today. One day mayhaps…

Bury FC, twice FA Cup winners and joint holders of the biggest FA Cup final win with Manchester City, look like they are doomed to liquidation
They aren’t the only club in trouble, Macclesfield Town are having serious problems and have already had six points deducted for not paying their players and failing to play a game (the players were on strike because they hadn’t been paid). There might be no relegation from EFL League Two this year, and that is far from a good thing (I say while Carlisle United are too close to the remaining relegation place for comfort).
The modern state has failed us. All of us. In a hundred million ways.
I’m in a local choral group, and so far I’ve seen no indication that we’re going to postpone our upcoming concert, COVID-19 be damned. I’m not even comfortable with showing up for rehearsal tonight.
Just because they’re all going doesn’t mean you have to.
(And half or so will probably not go, no?)
I’d like to think so, but I also have the responsibility of making an audio recording of the concert if it goes on as planned. I’m going to suggest we postpone if at all possible at tonight’s rehearsal.
Sounds like a plan. I imagine yours won’t be a lone voice.
Just had my last concert last weekend. Don’t touch anyone, don’t touch your face, wash your hands immediately after you get off the stage and again when you get home.
Don’t deprive yourself of the joy of singing in a group. Just take reasonable precautions.
Still no word on whether the concert will go as scheduled. The crazy thing is that almost everyone in the group showed up for the rehearsal.
My mental state is such that my appetite has dropped by about half since a couple of days ago. I’ve had to make myself eat today. I know I need to lose weight, but the Freakout Diet Plan™ isn’t how I want to go about it.
Yeah, that’s never the way to lose weight…
I think we all feel ya, tho.
So what’s your favorite piece you’re singing this time?
We’re doing Broadway songs for this concert, and (while I like them all) my favorite has to be “One Day More” from Les Misérables.
As a followup (I did mention it in the main thread), the concert was postponed. I was expecting it, but was prepared to drop out if they had gone ahead with it.
I know what a let down that is. I doubt either of our upcoming concerts (in May and June) will happen, but at least we were able to perform our most recent concert before all this exploded. We saw in Italy that singing together is so powerful. Losing the opportunity to do it is heart-breaking.
Friends…bridges…well, would you?
I probably would have dropped out. Flattening the curve is more important than a concert. Fortunately, good sense prevailed.
