Fuck Today (Part 1)

I had to do that too the other day. Somehow the ID office on my campus takes consistently good passport pics.

It is now many hours later, and I still haven’t had anything to eat (or any sleep), but at least coffee is not hard to find in Chicago during business hours. Off now to buy pizza (the real thing, not that greasy cardboard New Yorkers call “pizza”) for me and a bunch of college students.

Two graduations in Chicago down, one more to go (the same one as @d_r).

Both of the two so far had aspects that belong in the Victory thread, and aspects that belong here. The ratio weighs heavily on the Fuck Today side, unfortunately, because both graduations involved extended family issues.

I’ve just been given notice to quit from my landlord. I have until early August to move out. Stressful at the best of times, but when you don’t know how much money you will have because you are in the middle of reappyling for benefits and you are having a relapse of ME it looks like climbing Everest.

Forget Fuck Today, Fuck 2016

That’s terrible. It’s the last thing you need right now.

Are there any regulations about not forcing out someone on disability, or do landlords hold all the cards there?

My brother just died a few hours ago. I have a shrink session tomorrow, and I need to look at flights asap. Or I guess I could just drive.

I don’t really know what my brain is telling me to do.

Oh jeez. My sympathies…
I could send MrsTobinL your way for commiseration drinks and she can tell you about flying to Japan in just over a day from finding out when her brother died. If anything she can tell you how sleeping pills from Japan not only make you tired they can make you hallucinate and therefore make the air hostesses be really nice to you.

I just had to drive to the Vancouver BC airport and back. In the dark and rain on the way back with the kid sleeping in the back of the car…

I probably would have posted here if the thread existed then.

Slow down. Breathe. Keep busy and freak out after all the crap is done with.

I’m very, very sorry for your loss. That’s terrible.

I’m so sorry for your loss, @japhroaig. I’m sending you good thoughts and a hug. Have a safe journey, whatever type of transport you use.

I…

I don’t know what to say. My brother is my only sibling and I can’t imagine him leaving this world before me.

No words. I have no words. But the next time you get a hug from someone, hold that embrace a little longer. That’s us hugging you, too.

Ah shit. Hugs across the internet.

Is it safe for you to drive right now? Are you going there to support other family members, or because there’s no one else, or because you want to be there? Would giving yourself an extra 24 hours before leaving help at all?

I did the “flight to grief” a little before your “DNS incident” a bit over a year ago. It was my father in that case. I strongly recommend leaving the majority of the transport to others if you can. My company was on fire at the same time though, so your mileage may vary. Take care of yourself. (Hugs) as well.

So very sorry to hear this. Take care! Hug, as long as you need it, from over the pond and Internet.
Be careful and take care!

He was a recovering meth addict. According to the police report his heart stopped from ODing on methamphetamine and alcohol. It was supplied by a childhood friend of mine.

I am a pacifist, but it’s still a good thing I’m five hundred miles away and I don’t own a baseball bat.

Oh Fuck.

I am so sorry to hear that. Please look after yourself, hope you have a safe travel and that you’re able to take some time to process this. I can’t imagine what you’re going through at the moment.

This is all happening a few metres from my brother’s apartment, where he lives with his wife and newborn daughter. They had to leave yesterday and are staying with her parents in a nearby village.

Makes you proud to be English…

When England sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with them. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people. Europe should build a big wall, and the UK should pay for it.
