My daughter is so straight it’s nuts - either that or she has me totally fooled. I’m pretty sure she and her friends are going to just eat a bunch of sweets and dance. I can’t really complain, she’s a great kid. I’m happy to spoil her with fancy dress because she worked really hard this year and deserves to have something that makes her happy.
I mean, that’s it, though- right? It’s a time to get a fancy dress and act all fancy and ride in fancy cars and have a fancy night.
It’s when they’re doing test-runs on hairdos that it’s gone around the bend.
LMAO, correct.
One sales lady told me she had heard that people were spending as much as $2000 on their prom dresses. We saw some girls trying on stuff that was easily $800 or more.
… parents go to the prom? And the kids don’t die from embarrassment?
“fuck that noise” is “throw-back slang” ?
…
…
I don’t feel so good.
…
perhaps its my gout
oh what are the chances of that said every parent ever
FWIW, I didn’t drink or muck with drugs at all until a fair bit later in life. Nothing at all in High School.
I did not go to my prom. If my parents had been there I would have found a way to not go to it twice.
Whenever I read about proms I always feel like they sound like too much effort to be fun.
But then, I am one of the people who tried to persuade my school to let some of us organise a rave. It would have happened too, if there hadn’t been a mass brawl at the school disco in the neighbouring school two weeks before.
For me, from the late 90’s to the early millennium? Yep it is.
Call it a rave, and everyone’s happy.
needs moar pigeon-stopming
Wait: prom or graduation? I thought prom already happened.
As for the seat sitter part: I can’t even.
We have both this week. Thanks Obama!
We had neither. High school graduation?
The mind boggles.
Oh, wait, so did my kid’s high school: Saturday night and then Thursday afternoon. I guess it’s better than having it the weekend before finals, or something like that.
Wanted to write something about schooling, proms and the like, but it came out way, way too dark. Might have some unresolved issues there, lol.
Seat sitters? Test-run hairdos?
SMFH, is all. Shaking .My. Fucking. Head.
More power to you. Don’t know how you do it all.
I feel you on that one. People I know talk about getting their kids into good schools* and I think, “What are you talking about? School is shit and there is nothing anyone can do about that.” I need to check that against reality a bit.
* In Ontario there really aren’t good and bad schools the way there are in some states. Here “good school” is actually a racist dogwhistle that is so high pitched even the people blowing it can’t hear it.
