their band name was an acronym for Greenwood, Archer, and Pine streets, site of the 1921 Tulsa race massacre and the section of the Oklahoma city where the brothers grew up

Thank you for the good times, Ronnie. Many hours of dancing to funk radio stations. Also, those videos are a treasure trove of late 80s fashion – Western wear, glitter camo, fringed pantsuits, “Flashdance” legwarmers, and more. Thanks for posting, @pesco.

Ronnie Wilson and The Gap Band is still a strong influence on the content of my overall playlist. I may be adding new things, because I never want my list to grow stagnant, but the Gap Band is one of the ones that occupies a permanent spot. (Especially on my running list!)
