Fun and Fancy Free is actually a “package film” comprised of two shorter stories with Jiminy Cricket providing the framing device. This part of the film is the opening for a “Jack and the Beanstalk” story. The dire circumstances of the trio set up the payoff for a later scene in which Mickey, Donald and Goofy suddenly find themselves amidst an incredible feast in the giant’s castle.
