I assume that it’s the “recent read time” stat in your user summary, but that just punts your question to another, related question.
My guess has always been that this is some count of “active” browsing time through articles and topics, or something similar. I bet @codinghorror could give us the specifics…
@orenwolf and @codinghorror (who wrote the link below) can correct me, but unless BB has customized their Discourse trust levels it’s probably using these standard rules to define a regular (trust level 3).
The timeout didn’t have a hoped-for rehabilitative effect. This user decided to again to go to war with the Authors and community and is no longer welcome.
I think it’s my turn on the rota to thank you for the sterling job you do keeping this place clean and friendly. Seriously, the moderation here is excellent.
The level of obsession and pathology runs deep with some folks, truly.
The thing about this being a real community is that regular members who are consistently active have established our individual personas as well as a ‘track record’ of our attitudes and behavior. (That’s what makes Boing Boing unique amongst other forums.)
It’s hard to conceal one’s true nature for very long…
FGD135 has been given a timeout for directly attacking other users.
Seriously, don’t so that. If your only response is to lob an insult, do not post it here. If there’s an issue with a post, flag it. Otherwise, it’s the internet. People are going to have opinions you disagree with. That’s not an excuse to turn to name-calling, and it does nothing to further the conversation here.
John_Bau Has been banned after making it clear they are more interested in throwing barbs at Boing Boing, the Authors, and countries they are not fans of, while offering nothing else of substance and participating in good-faith.
G_r_ld_z_n_r has been given a timeout for engaging in a classical example of the “debate me” sign: Decare a post as irrelevant, then belittle or attack all comers in a post, as if it was your own (and sadly, not for the first time).
user teetwo has been given a timeout for referring to a sold-out, incredibly popular event as “cancelled” while also belittling criticism of the said event.
If you want to be critical of consequence culture, that’s fine, but trying to use “cancelled” to describe anything you like that receives criticism, especially when those things in question are sold-out, trendy events, is a move right out of the right-wing troll playbook and not welcome here. We’re sorry that some people take issue with the things you love. That’s our Mutants, and we love them for it.
User mdavis has been banned for repeatedly throwing shade at Authors as his primary post subject, despite having been moderated for this behaviour in the past.
Criticism is one thing. Making it your mission to disparage the site or its contributors (or fellow mutants!) is not welcome here.
