If Carlisle lose Owen Moxon before the season starts then I can’t see them staying up. He was Carlisle’s player of the year last season by a long way and was arguably the best midfielder in League Two. There is no money to get anyone else because everything is going to pay off debts, that includes any money that the club gets from the James Trafford, Dean Henderson and Jarrad Branthwaite deals.
Carlisle United’s Holdings Board have today issued the following statement:
“We are aware of the media reports of a transfer offer being made for midfielder Owen Moxon.
“We can confirm that we have received an offer and that it was turned down. The ‘leaking’ of a confidential offer, and its terms, is unwelcome and clearly designed to unsettle the player, fans and the club.
“We can confirm that Owen has one year left on his current contract and is not for sale. We see Owen Moxon as part of the future at the club.
“We had already been in talks with him and his agent about a new long-term deal with Carlisle United and had made a contract offer with that in mind prior to the bid coming in.
“We are hopeful that a new deal for an extended contract can still be reached with Owen, to keep him at Brunton Park beyond this season. We will continue to support manager Paul Simpson in getting a deal done.
“We hope this puts an end to the speculation and that we can all now focus on an exciting season ahead in League One.”
My desire for Carlisle to beat Blackpool now goes beyond traditional rivalries.
Honestly I think Atlanta lost that mentally. As the season goes on teams will be more comfortable with a possible GOAT with some lovely players running off him and realise that it doesn’t matter when they have chances themselves. Atlanta should have had at least two more from those highlights.
Is overplayed. Sure there’s some milking ans simulation but far more times players are fouled and battle to stay on their feet. I think soccer refereeing at champions league level is unbelievably good and really takes a holistic look at what all players do.
Personally, as a slight wing back before chronic arthritis (turns out due to coeliac) made me crawl off the pitch for the last time at 19, players knocked me off my feet all the time and I would be deemed not hard enough for it to be a foul.
