I’m not even joking, “Go Packers” is on my dad’s tombstone… He was born and raised in New Jersey and lived in GA from his 20s on…
Yep. It’s weird. My fishing buddy is a huge Packers fan, having never set foot east of the Rockies, or even outside the West Slope.
I wonder if the fact it’s owned by the citizens, as @anon67050589 noted, has anything to do with it?
Not for my fishing buddy. He’d consider that Communism!
Last night, the 10 o’clock news spent the first 15 minutes talking about this.
Having been born a few hours away, but never a fan of handegg, I must say, there is something in the water or in the cheese that makes us cheer for the Packers no matter what, no matter where we live. Then again, I live in Lions territory, when have they ever won a Superb Owl? Uh never. Lions fans are masochists, pure and simple.
@anon61221983 and @DukeTrout: one of my cousins, most def born and raised in Wisconsin decided he was a Tampa Bay fan at age 8. None of us could figure it out.
Aren’t pirates always in?
It’s all about me says Rubiales
No it isn’t say Spanish players
The name of the Team made me smile. They call themselves “The Bats”.
They could always come back out of retirement later
Richard hasn’t come off the bench yet, but it would be cool if he played alongside his son Cameron.
And there is always Kazu, who never retired in the first place
As for Carlisle, if we don’t get someone who can score goals by 23:00 BST on Friday then I have little hope of them staying up. Defence and midfield are solid though, so who knows what is possible if we do get someone.
Getting banned from European competitions is a really dumb idea, unless the big teams want to lose their best players. It’s what happened to England when they got banned because of the Heysel disaster. It seem like the RFEF is full of dumb ideas right now though.
NWSL players wore armbands supporting Jenni Hermoso:
(Sorry about the S*n link, I couldn’t find another better source, but it looks like it is actually happening)
IFAB have closed these kind of loopholes before
4 1/2 hours to go until the transfer deadline and still no sign of a goalscorer at Carlisle. Rumour is that Josh Kayode could come back if Barnsley don’t get him.
Apparently Carlisle have had three club record breaking bids for players turned down. Maybe that James Trafford and Dean Henderson sell-on clause money wasn’t that much after all.
Edit at 22:29
Someone has signed a contract, no name yet.
22:32
As rumoured, it’s JJ Kayode, for his third loan to Carlisle.
I’m genuinely pleased to see Carlisle United news on the BBS - thanks
As a York City fan, I spent part of a bitter Winter evening shaking a fundraising bucket outside Brunton Park as part of a fans’ dispute with our bastard ex-ex-Chairman Douglas Craig[0]. You were all very generous, with the common refrain “fuck Michael Knighton”…
[0]: He took over the club on the express basis of stewardship, then a decade later fell out with the fans, split ownership of the ground and the club, sold Bootham Crescent for housing, threatened to resign the club from the football league, then sold it to our scumbag chancer ex-Chairman for a pound. Bastard.
