It’s a shame it was in front of the smallest crowd (716) to have watched a first team game ever. It is understandable though, the game was lucky to start after heavy rain throughout the day.

Carlisle still have a slim chance of getting to the next round of the now sponsored Bristol Street Motors Trophy. Accrington Stanley just need to beat Nottingham Forest U21s by at least 3 goals.

It looks like it is happening. Carlisle United will probably be sold at some point in the next 8 days. All the debts have been paid.

CUOSC still have a minority share of the club and fans will still have representation in the boardroom.

Likewise, the Portland Thorns appear to be close to completing the (mandated) sale away from Merritt Paulson.

The buyer is already an investor in Bay Area sports teams, but no soccer teams.

It’s likely that Republic of Ireland will not have a decent team again in my lifetime.

Which would be fine with me if people stopped calling Ireland after the soccer team name that the corrupt, incompetent FAI have. Useless bunch of shits.

Maybe the ghost of Jack Charlton will appear to lead the boys in green to at least a semi-finals appearance. Coax John Aldridge and Ray Houghton out of retirement to put them under pressure. Olé, olé olé olé

It’s happened. Carlisle United have new owners.

Andrew Jenkins leaves after 64 years at Carlisle United. He was a director when my dad was a child.

In March 2021, Indiana rewarded Allen with a new seven-year contract that increased his salary to $4.9 million annually and included a buyout of $20.8 million if the school chose to fire him before Dec. 1, 2023. The buyout would have dropped to about $8 million in 2024.

There were fewer than 10 minutes left to play in the game at that point, so essentially the ref ejected all ten players (other than the goalies, who it looked like didn’t participate in the brawl.) I guess some of the players who were on the bench got a little extra playing time!

If something like this happened in my beer league, the game would effectively be over - we frequently have only 10 skaters per bench. Further, USA rules require another skater to sit in the sin bin for the 10 minutes the ejected player earned. All that would be left is the goalies. I suppose they could take pot shots at each other for 10 minutes, but the first icing would end the game - goalies can’t cross the blue line. Oh, and game misconducts automatically come with a one game suspension.
