An excellent illustration of why judges shouldn’t be elected.
No-one here will be surprised to learn that Coomer is a Republican, formerly of the GA statehouse and appointed to the bench by a GOP governor before running for re-election.
As if that would even be a question in any properly functioning democracy.

Sooo… it’s the allegations he figures tarnished his reputation and embarrassed his family, not the fact he actually violated ethics rules??
That sounds suspiciously like the “And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn’t for you nosy kids!” line you’d get from every unrepentant Scooby-Doo villain.
There’s a lot of people who seem to think being called things is worse than being the thing. Being called racist is the bad thing, not being racist. Being called a thief is the bad thing, not actually stealing. etc. No idea where this attitude comes from.
Mostly from racists and thieves, I reckon.
