Zion is one of my favorite places in the world.
The last time I was there, I was woken at 3:30am by the sound of rockfall. Didn’t die. Went back to sleep.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just grade the road around the rock?
Makes for a new attraction. . . Fallen Rock!

No. There’s perfectly good road under that rock. (mostly, anyway)

Blasting it is the path of least resistance to getting the highway running again.

Behold, the hubris of man!

Giant rocks have always fallen, but they haven’t always closed the highway. Maybe cutting budgets has consequences.
