Please don’t put your children in the back of a pickup at the wildlife park (or anywhere else when the vehicle is in operation).
Stay in your vehicle with doors closed at all times.
Most Fossil Rim animals are free-roaming and may approach the vehicle. Even animals that may seem docile to you can be dangerous. For visitor safety, all tailgates, van/car doors, and hatchbacks must be closed at all times and you must be seated within the vehicle – no sitting on window ledges or on top of the vehicle. Vehicles with “soft doors,” “tube doors,” or doors removed, such as Jeeps, will not be allowed to enter the park. You may NOT ride in the back of pickups.
for those who tend to think that ‘X’ should be ‘ex’
(not sure it’s so much a giraffe picks up a child as a tug-o-war between a child and a giraffe which would tend to favor the latter)
clumsy bow to @Carla_Sinclair who added a non-X option on the main page
“Puts her back.”
In Colorado they have a zoo you can buy these crackers and then walk up onto a giraffe head high deck to feed them.
“Spits her out.”
“Ugh, this snack tastes terrible.” /silly
Perhaps the giraffe misunderstood what she meant…
Shame the interviewing reporter didn’t ask Dad if he’d seen those signs and just thought they didn’t apply to his own family.
Ten, twelve years later the kid’s superpowers become apparent…
Do you think she’ll be much taller then?
Stretchy neck?
Jesus, that could have ended so badly, and it’s being played as good-news human interest. Hope the park bans the family for life.
That’s what I thought when I watched it earlier. It seemed like to toddler didn’t let go of a…carrot?
ETA: I saw the other video with the father and it was a bag of something. But yeah, it seems like a tug-of-war.
Giraffe: “hmm… Not food… Bleh!”
shit, man! i knew when i read “fossil rim…” exactly where this is! my girlfriend’s family ran cattle on a ranch by there and i know that land well. of course, this park - or whatever - was not there 50 years ago, but… Glen Rose, Texas is only a few miles from where i grew up, on the upper Brazos.
close to Dinosaur Valley State Park, this area was even wilder before the exotic animals!
bootleggers!
klansmen ,
hillbillies!
methlabs !
in other words… this does not surprise me.
o! the land of Comanche “Peak”! and Brazos and Bosque Rivers, how i do not miss thee!
But, at the time of the incident it was allowed to be in the bed of a truck.
Effective June 6th, 2024, guests are no longer permitted to ride in the bed of pickup trucks.
“The incident was first reported to us on Monday June 3rd. The safety of our guests and animals is always of utmost importance to us. Although an incident like this has never occurred here previously, we are taking immediate action to make sure it won’t happen again,” the statement read. “Effective immediately Fossil Rim will no longer be allowing guests to ride through the park in truck beds.”
