“the civil equivalent of the death penalty” and “would be the end of Mr. Giuliani.”

Don’t threaten us with a good time.

As with his fellow scumbag Alex Jones, I am fine with leaving him enough to purchase a barrel to wear when he’s out and about.

and heck, maybe they’ll become vocal supporters of social security and public healthcare. wouldn’t be so scary for them to lose all their money if there was a decent safety net

( true, if wishes were fishes this would a pretty darn big fish )

(I mean, of course it isn’t remotely “the end of him,” unfortunately.)

I might feel the slightest scintilla of sympathy for Giuliani if he hadn’t responded to all this by defaming them even more. He did something awful to these women, he was confronted with - and apparently accepted - the reality, then continued, despite that. He couldn’t say he didn’t know the impact his words were having, he couldn’t claim he was only making these false claims because he had been hoodwinked by a false narrative - he was just being awful because he is awful.

All these aholes strut around like today’s conviction is meaningless in the big picture because they know a guy. What can that guy do though?

Can a President Trump order the ladies to return the money? This isn’t a pardon situation, very curious where this could land.

Thankfully, no. There is no plausible reading of the U.S. Constitution which would authorize the Executive to unilaterally overturn civil verdicts, especially at the state level.

… you’d think every judgment would implicitly include an order to pay it

Also: why would Trump do that? It doesn’t directly benefit him.

Maybe he and Alex Jones can fundraise for one another?

Suspenders optional!

So has Trump offered to assist his fellow New Yorker and favorite atty?
At the least starting with a grift of their credulous fans?

Trump may despise justice and accountability, but he also despises losers.

He’s been keeping Rudy at arm’s length ever since his humiliating performance during all the election challenge nonsense. Even Trump couldn’t help but see how pathetic Giuliani looked on TV.

No, but Dictator Trump can have his goons walk up to the women, demand their money, and then shoot them. If it’s held that a sitting president can not be held accountable for his crimes while in office (currently before the most corrupt supreme court this country may have ever seen), who’s to stop him? Kings and other warlords have always viewed all money, property, and gold in their kingdom as theirs, and have only hesitated to steal it when their subject armed up and killed the king’s soldiers before the king’s soldiers killed theirs. It is a great part of why the English have the Magna Carta, why the Templars (to use a religious example) were destroyed by the French (among others), and why the US has a Constitution that explicitly states that the government cannot just take stuff without compensation or at least the due process of law.

If a certain mad, senile, orange-colored buffoon gains power again and feels that those awards in the Giuliani case were inappropriate, do you think he’s going to let a few old pieces of paper get in his way? He would keep the money for himself, of course, as a finder’s fee or just straight theft, unless he needs something from an out-of-office, broke, and powerless Giuliani. But make no mistake, his greed will insist to him that he, this time, gets not just the brass ring, but the horses, calliope, merry-go-round, and the whole rest of the amusement park.

I’ll pay for the suspenders. I don’t want either of them to not be covered by at least a barrel.

Shame they didn’t get him on moral bankruptcy also
