By flash-heating the power packs in a matter of seconds, the waste formed magnetic shells and stable core structures. It is part of an exciting technique being developed to recycle expensive battery parts, according to a university lab report.
If successful, it could be a better method of reclaiming the valuable materials without hazardous chemical solvents and power-hungry processes. And the results could lead to cleaner batteries and electric vehicles, per the research team.
âWith the surge in battery use, particularly in EVs, the need for developing sustainable recycling methods is pressing,â Tour said in the lab summary.
Tour and the Rice researchers quickly heated the old batteries with an electric current, called flash joule heating. This stage transformed the power pack into other substances. The valuable cobalt-based cathodes became magnetic, making them easier to separate.
The team was able to recover 98% of the valuable battery metal, as stated by the report.
Iâm tired of needing to access shit with a QR code⊠just give me a fucking paper menu, trendy breakfast spot!!! I hate reading shit on my fuckinâ phone!!!
Plenty of people canât see well enough to read stuff on their phones. And printing isnât so expensive that redoing menus as necessary is that big an issue. Many restaurants print new menus daily.
The U.S. Board of Geographic Names voted on Wednesday in favor of a request from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians to officially change the name Clingmans Dome to Kuwohi, according to a news release from the park. The Cherokee name for the mountain translates to âmulberry place.â
Kuwohi is a sacred place for the Cherokee people and is the highest point within the traditional Cherokee homeland, according to the park. The peak is visible from the Qualla Boundary, home of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Great Smoky Mountains National Park closes Kuwohi every year for three half-days so that predominantly Cherokee schools can visit the mountain and learn its history.
The encouraging part is the response to the sheriffâs nonsense. The sheriffâs department has now been removed from providing security at polling sites.
That was delightfulâŠthanks for the link!
