Thread!
If this is out of place, Iāll start a separate LGBTQ+ thread. I initially put it in the Good Stuff thread because the thread ends on a positive note despite the grim topic, but then I decided to move it as it might trigger trauma if readers stumble on it unexpectedly.
I searched the forum for an existing general LGBTQ+ thread, but couldnāt find one.
That might be a good idea. Trans people have a history of being silenced, discussions about LGBTQ+ where the T never seems to be mentioned, and so on. We should keep the trans threads as trans threads until that stops happening so often.
Iām flexible in that but I hear your point. Perhaps we need a āQueer Positiveā thread so we donāt accidentally silence ourselves straight off in the title?
That might be my fault. Iāve moved this discussion here to avoid confusion.
Whether this is positive or not remains to be seen, but we wonāt have to wait too long to see what she is going to be:

Amazing.

Got a LBGTQ+ positive personal story instead.

In the early 90ās my grandfather passed away. It was at that point he finally officially came out to the family. When he told my grandmother, she smiled and asked him āare you seeing a nice fella?ā
Well, I mean, come on, itās easy to see how that could be misconstrued asā¦ I meanā¦ nope, I got nothing.
A press release the Washington Blade obtained that details the Lavender Offense Victim Exoneration (LOVE) Act of 2020, which U.S. Reps. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) and Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) introduced, notes upwards of 1,000 people lost their jobs at the State Department during the 1950s and 1960s ādue to their sexual orientation.ā
Black lesbians on a UK fashion magazine cover is beautiful.
It is. It really sucks that she got such a terrible backlash from her home community. Iām glad she persevered to share her marriage with us on that cover though. Lovely!
