Yay Spain!!!

16- and 17-year-olds in Spain can now undergo an abortion without parental consent. Period products will now be offered free in schools and prisons, while state-run health centers will do the same with hormonal contraceptives and the morning after pill. The menstrual leave measure allows workers suffering debilitating period pain to take paid time off.

the changes enshrine in law the right to have an abortion in a state hospital. Currently more than 80% of termination procedures in Spain are carried out in private clinics due to a high number of doctors in the public system who refuse to perform them ā€” with many citing religious reasons.

allowing any citizen over 16 years old to change their legally registered gender without medical supervision.

Minors between 12-13 years old will need a judgeā€™s authorization to change, while those between 14 and 16 must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The second law also bans so-called ā€œconversion therapyā€ for LGBTQ people and provides state support for lesbians and single women seeking IVF treatment.

Good to remember that Jimmy saved Ottawa from the worldā€™s first nuclear meltdown. And exposed himself to 1,000 times the safe levels of exposure.

This is a really great thing to hear about! More people spend some time of their life menstruating than not and it is stupid how little it is represented or discussed

I have not read the article, but it seems to me, in addition to it being more acceptable/safe to know and even share oneā€™s self-knowledge these days, thereā€™s also the fact that the umbrella term includes many more categories, and thus more people.

ā€œ The argument draws on the concept that a foetus is a person with rights.

The idea that an unborn child is a person with constitutional protections has gained traction since the US Supreme Court overturned the nationwide right to an abortion, known as Roe v Wade, last summer.

Ms Harrellā€™s ā€œunborn child is a person as defined under the Florida Constitution and United States Constitutionā€, attorney William Norris wrote in a legal submission.

The filing was made on behalf of the unborn child and calls for Harrell to be discharged from jail until the child is born so she can receive proper care.

ā€œAn unborn child has rights independent of its mother, even though itā€™s still in the womb,ā€ Mr Norris told The Washington Post. ā€œThe unborn child has been deprived of due process of law in this incarceration.ā€ā€

I hate that Roe is overturned, and all the hell that goes with that.

But if their going to go with these stupid fetal personhood laws, then they Iā€™m all in favor of people fscking with the system with these kinds of lawsuits.
