Logos are just a form of fashion, and fashion trends change every few years.
so you’re saying sans-serif is… crocs?
( but not cowboy boot crocs, obviously )
The new logo is not any more generic sans serif than the previous one was. Nobody remembers the Android logo anyway. The core part of the branding is the character. The typography is largely irrelevant.

Duncan Idaho
Perhaps a sly reference to Duncan Idaho?
Or how the Water of Life is gained (by drowning a sandworm, dunking it)?
Sigh.
Art.
How does it work?

So it’s the NASA Logo font from the 70s?
It just does. That’s the beauty of it.
I see it!
If only! I would find the rounded A to be more elegant. The pointy one in the new logo is out of place to my eye.
