Those two seats were a hard fought win. By back-fire I mean we get the win for not working for it, at least not that hard.
Yeah, I don’t see uprooting hundreds (thousands?) of years of entrenched racism, misogyny, classism and power happening that way.
Yet another stupid cop – ex or not.
I’m asking for a win. I didn’t say it has to correct all evil on earth.
“Not everybody wants to vote, and if somebody is uninterested in voting, that probably means that they’re totally uninformed on the issues,” Kavanagh said. “Quantity is important, but we have to look at the quality of votes, as well.”
Well, he’s right about one thing: uninformed voters are a problem. However, the solution is to, you know, educate them. And ensure they have access to high-quality sources of information. (Probably not newsmax/OANN)
Oh I get it, and it would be great. But if one examines history, in my opinion, one just doesn’t tend to find examples of what you’re describing.
Those are the sort of statements that should immediately remove one from public service…
A modest proposal for the Arizona GOP, institute one party rule. What Arizona needs is unity, everyone facing in the one direction, no more division. States control the franchise so the GOP guaranteed however many electoral college votes Arizona has. Supreme Court shouldn’t be a problem as the fix is already in. /s
Greetings from a place with compulsory voting. Or at least compulsory getting your name crossed off as attending a poling place. With independent electoral commissions at federal and state level conducting the polls.
In the debate in parliament when compulsory voting was introduced a County Party (conservative) MP stated that it was incumbent upon the government ensure everyone could vote. Though it took until the 70’s for our First Nation’s people to get the vote.
Two votes are better than one!
I’ve been waiting for literally four decades.
the fact they’re increasingly relying on things like… i dunno… insurrection… to keep power is probably a good sign. it means that the people are not with them, and the only way to hold on to power are undemocratic methods.
we the peeps just have to keep the pressure up in whatever ways we can until they are fully in the fringe. they won’t got away, but if we can keep them out of power and set some reasonable policy in the meantime… that’s the win.
My flip comment brought on a well thought-out response. Thank You!.
Nope. They are evil, but never think they are stupid. They have consultants who can advise them how to target Democratic voters “with surgical precision” (as stated in a case in NC.) Nothing good can come of allowing this shit.
Ooh, was this my favorite gerrymandering case of ours where they deadass stood in front of a judge and declared “the maps we drew are not based on racial lines, they’re based purely on party affiliation. All the black people just happen to be democrats”
Much of the time, they are stupid. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t dangerous. Perhaps more so, because stupid evil leads to doing self-destructive, society-busting things smart evil would avoid.
Saruman of Many Colors. They have left the path of wisdom, but are still cunning with voices that persuade a lot of people, and even when away from power still very capable of mischief in a mean way.
