as an update:
I did the repair yesterday and I worked a 13-hour kitchen shift today–on my feet the whole time, intermittently wet floors–the gorilla glue held. gonna call it a win.

Shoe Goo sealed the crack in my 15 year old hiking boots. Works great. It stays flexible and keeps out the water.
