FWIW standard phonograph PVC is recyclable and reusable, faulty pressings are routinely turned into re-grinds-- the center label is not usable and is punched out, so 100,000 12-inch records may only yield enough vinyl for 75,000 new records. There is also a problem with combining PVC compounds from different manufacturers and eras. So, imperfect but not irredeemable.
