Guantanamo Bay lowers McDonald's flag to half-mast in honor of Madeleine Albright

I’d say the existence of Guantanamo is insulting. The McD flag is just deeply weird.

Well, yeah. The flag they treat with honor has a different pattern of stars and bars.

The “United States Flag Code” is little more than a codified set of rules and customs for handling the flag. There’s no mechanism of enforcement and it’s all non-binding.

I still remember the controversy that brewed when her curtsey to the Burger King wasn’t deep enough. That gaffe was enough for Colonel Sanders and Long John Silver to pull out of the negotiations as mediators. In the ensuing kerfuffle, the Hamburgler looted the commissary while everybody was distracted. Thankfully, the ever level-headed Little Caesar was there to restore calm and bring everybody back to the table (along with the Hamburglar’s loot, which happened to be lunch). Once order was restored, diplomatic relations secured, and the treaty signed, the victory chime of the Taco Bell could be heard for miles around.

Which is probably just as well because otherwise all those pretty young ladies who pose for photographs with their AR-15 rifles and stars-and-stripes bikinis would be in deep, deep trouble.

Uh-huh… specifically 4 US Code § 8(d), “The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery”, (e), “The flag should never be fastened, displayed, used, or stored in such a manner as to permit it to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged in any way”, and (j), “No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform.”

What does it say about ceremonial seagulls? Or is that an eagle?
