Gun proponents keep skipping over the well-regulated part of the militia.
Competent and responsible should have been added, if that amendment should even remain at all.

What really drives me up the wall is that if I cause someone harm with my speech, then I’m not covered by the First Amendment. But it seems like I can do anything I want and still own a gun. But of course, gun politics were always kind of bullshit.

And the militia part. I’m all for just abolishing it entirely at this point. Gun nuts have proven they value their right to bear arms over the lives of anyone, from their neighbors to schoolchildren to themselves, and they’re so sociopathically devoted to that right that they would rather let the killing continue than be subjected to even the slightest inconvenience, restriction or delay. Fuck 'em. They had a chance to make this work and they refused, over and over and over, as the situation has grown worse and worse. Their hands are drenched in blood and we owe them no favors.

Many (most?) of them think they need that right in order to overthrow the government. Just in case.

I mean plenty of governments have been toppled without private gun ownership rights. Turns out people find other ways, or just break the law if they’re into fomenting revolution.

But alas, I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for an ammosexual to apply logic or history to a debate.

Ha! That’s just what the government says, really it’s the only way to shut down the chips Obama and the Marxist Fairies plant in them overnight. Wakeup sheeple. Microwave should work too, just make sure to give it at least 20 solid minutes on max to nuke the chip.

Ah, yet another one of those "Responsible Gun Owners"tm I keep hearing about.
Pathetic.

Well, they are responsible; for a lot of needless death and suffering.

Interesting reminder that the NRA started out as a gun safety organization.

Is anyone else a little puzzled by ovens as a storage location?

I can see that they are more robustly built than your average sawdust-and-formaldehyde econowood furniture or cabinets; but I don’t think I’ve ever run into one that was especially amenable to being locked or particularly difficult to open; which makes the robustness of the enclosure a lot less relevant.

They also aren’t typically situated in good beat-the-home-invader-to-the-location areas; and (if storing things in ovens is actually a thing) are typically way too obvious and insufficiently numerous to be effective hiding places against someone checking.

Is there some sort of ‘bicycle lock safe out of kitchen appliances’ ersatz safe hack that I’ve just totally missed?

I’ve been know to leave the occasional cookie sheet in the oven after Taco Tuesdays, but these are guns for crying out loud.

I assume they have other guns in all the other locations as well. It’s all about the action movie fantasy after all. They’re just jockeying for a home invasion, so they can pull some of their collection out and go all John Wick on some confused junkie or their daughter who let herself in with her key to surprise them.

Sounds like he may actually have been luckier to avoid serious combat before he went to Iraq than after.
