Guns Don't Kill People, Toddlers Do

You’ve already pointed out how you feel about it, and declined to offer any rationale beyond the force of your own opinion. Move on, man, move on. I get it already.

I got some natural law for both uh yuz. It’s unnaturally stinky, but it’s definitely natural.

The rationale is that what you call a " natural law" is simply your opinion (and one that just, coincidentally, supports your arguments…). How is what you call a “law” a “law” and verifiable by all third parties as such? I’ve waited for you to explain that but you haven’t. You’re doing exactly what you accuse me of doing. Simply saying “natural law” over and over doesn’t prove your point. Telling me “go read some cog sci” doesn’t either (and I’ve read plenty, thanks).

What is this “natural law” of which you speak? How is it experimentally verified? Please formulate it as a law that can be tested by experimentation to be examined by third parties. You know, the way we do actual science, as opposed to theology.

Very good point, I’m oversimplifying a lot of things. And a great group survival strategy is for some members of the group to do each of those three things. But since I’ve already got Al trying to drag me off in the weeds I probably should not mention group selection (I said vertebrates because I knew otherwise someone would say “you’re wrong, because pelagic snails!”)

I’ve come pretty close to doing it (I’ve got a permanently damaged left eye, left ear and right knee - three separate incidents) and I could not agree more.

@albill - c’mon, man. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=natural+law

Yes, I’m aware of outmoded ideas by dead white people who often appeal to deity as their basis. We’re well beyond that. Humans are animals in a naturalistic universe. The only laws are those of the universe. Anything else is culture and opinion if it isn’t rooted in biology and being rooted in biology doesn’t make something a “law.”

I have an MA in philosophy…

There is no natural law of self-defense, nor God given right.
