It probably is easy to confuse the two though. The tempo is the same. The keys are “sorta” the same. DSP is in the key of A (not really major or minor, since throughout the whole clip the third is never played). The key of the Holiday rap is a little ambiguous too; I would argue it’s in in D major, although (IIRC) the tonic (D) is never played. Others might argue that it’s in A major, and I think both interpretations are reasonable (for me, D (as opposed to A) is just how it “feels” to me, not something one can definitively “prove”). In any case, the “breakdown” section is centered around an A chord (like DSP), but also goes through B minor and G major. So yeah, they are quite similar, I’ll give you that. But absolutely not the same.
Heh, maybe a little. It’s more that to me, it’s clear without a shadow of a doubt that the two songs are different, but I understand that I can hear detail in music that many, maybe most, people have difficulty hearing. But just saying “they’re different and I’m sorry if you can’t hear it” is an appeal to authority, so I wanted to avoid that. So how do I convince someone that they’re wrong when they probably aren’t skilled enough to know that they’re wrong? I make the differences clearer by describing them, by putting the side by side, and at some point it will become obvious to them too.
BTW while I’m here, if you’re listening attentively, you will also notice that there are parts of the music in the Little Superstar video that don’t appear in the linked Holiday Rap video, which is basically the single edit. But there’s an extended mix of the song, and those parts do appear in the longer version.
You don’t, and you don’t need to. You’ve got skills that are put to better use literally anywhere else. Much better uses than trying to prove wrong someone who isn’t even really arguing with you.
I’m just trying to set the record straight, and trying to do it in a respectful way, enlightening rather than insulting.
