Well thanks. Now I feel youthful and invigorated!
(I think that sudden noise was your sarcasm detector exploding.)

Still, at least I know what I’ll be listening to this weekend. It’s a great album, which had heavy play at many parties of my youth. And despite heated discussion, I don’t think anyone ever actually came to blows over what the lyrics to Birdhouse In Your Soul were…

Wow, I never saw the IATSE Union bug remix there on the cover. Go Union!

Oh god. That means that “Flood” CD I bought when I was 12 also turned 30. I’m aging like that guy who picked the wrong Grail in “The Last Crusade”!

What a great record. I play “Dead” at my solo shows a lot, and the people who know it do triple takes.

i really appreciate the people busting out laughing during the line about the Argonauts, because that line always makes me laugh.

One of my all-time favorite records! One of its many great attributes is that my kids love TMBG and we can all listen to this and sing along together.

Ah, Producer Matthew Flood, not Producer Flood (Mark Ellis, not to be confused with Mark Ellis).

I saw TMBG when they came through town for Lincoln. It was just the two of them along with metronomes and pre-recorded bits. It was a small club but was packed more than I was expecting at the time.

One of them, I think it was John*, said “Last time we were in town, we played to twelve people. We would like to dedicate this song to those twelve people… although I’m sure they’re not here tonight.”

Good times. Great show.

*I see what I did there.

Hah, I really loved TMBG as a kid, including Flood of course. Caught them at The Iron Horse in Northampton when they came through at one point in the mid 90s. Very down-to-Earth, chill guys, that duo. I’ll give it a listen this weekend!

Anyone else also a King Missile fan? A tad more adult-themed, of course.

Saw them for that tour at the long gone Mississippi Nights.
Even though I was of age to be out of the mosh pit area and enjoy some booze I stayed there the whole show.
Also my mom who taught high school chemistry at the time reported to me that I was spotted by some of her students.
Jeezus I feel old now.

“Whistling in the Dark” was the unofficial theme song for our paintball team.
Having worked there for several years, “Minimum Wage” (all 37 seconds of it) was a guilty pleasure.

You mean the original vid or this cover?

Either way, here is the original video which is awesome…

Wait… is there now a second group running around doing choir versions of pop songs?

Awesome!

They’re coming back to NoHo in May to play Flood! We’ve seen them quite a few times - my kid’s first proper concert was a TMBG kids’ show at the Academy of Music.

Birdhouse was an anthem for my university pals and I - it came out halfway through my degree course, oh how time flies!

Wonder if they’ll extend the Flood tour outside of the US - the UK would be good

ETA: Oh Happy Day!
