Why not, though? I mean, I wonder what brought that on, exactly.
To me, “Photoshoot” implies a lot of fuss that a lot of people go through. Just snap a pic, it’s going cold!
I take a lot of pictures of food, but, yeah, when I see someone arranging and posing and fussing about lighting…
really no fuss. lighting is not good, reflection and shadows in the glass bartop. yeah, I cracked the lid on the tostada basket to show them, but really, ceviche is actually served cold, so…
I get where you are coming from, but can’t help myself, especially when it involves brotherly competition!
Is there a meme generator for that guy that I don’t know about?
I suspect he himself is one?
Grilled steak and mashed potatoes. Even starting with mostly frozen steaks they ended up overdone for our tastes (which tend towards the rare). It’s sous vide for my steaks from now on! Cook to 115, then sear. Great every time.

Who is that guy? I think you’ve posted like 5 or 6 shots of him today!
Right?? So many to choose from!
Maybe he’s Seth? Anyway, it’s the dudewithsign thing.
I think food is pretty. I like pictures - even portraits - of food!
or candids, those in-the-moment captures of a fantastic crunchy grouper* sandwich on toasty Cuban roll, just sittin’ on a paper plate for lunch!
*black grouper caught at the Islamorada Humps in about 120 ft of water. my favorite sammie!
mmmm… so sexy!
Just put a Texas-style brisket out on the pellet BBQ. Should be done in 6-8 hours.
I don’t think anything I said was like that. I removed my post because I no longer feel like it was wise to have posted anything about my own hobbies and how I think about them here if that’s how they come across to others. I’m just a person who likes trying to make better pictures incrementally bc it’s nice to improve my skills in something. But … I don’t really need to talk about it with you or anyone here.
Sorry if I started it all with my silly dude with a sign pic.
FWIW, I actually think gorgeous, well-done shots of food can be wonderful. And this thread is certainly a great place for them.
So, more please!
I blame social media and consumer culture. The funny thing is I mostly take pictures only for offline personal albums and literally nothing else so it’s weird to get a response like I set myself up as the Avedon of ramen or something just because I admitted I like setting up photographs. I guess a part of me was hoping some one else enjoyed that and it might lead to an interesting moment or conversation. I don’t actually share pics in this thread and uh… I sure a hell am not gonna start! Iow this is maybe not the thread for me and that’s fine, no real harm done.
I like other people’s pictures of food, so post away! I worked at a company that did the photo work for catalogs for a while-what the photographers did to poor food for those shoots!
We’re curing a Pastrami. While the brine was cooling, the refrigerator smelled like either a Jewish deli, or the sweaty socks of a whole football team.
Norfolk’s second-greatest cultural export set for return with 3-metre monument in honour of the Turkey Twizzler
You would hope that we’ve run the gamut of inappropriate British monuments in 2020, but this one really takes the formed-meat biscuit.
Blended bird purveyor Bernard Matthews has erected a three-metre statue of its most famous (and controversial) son, the iconic Turkey Twizzler, outside the firm’s HQ at Great Witchingham Hall in Norfolk.
Busy food day-made peach curd to use up some otherwise iffy fruit, baked a whipped cream pound cake to put the peach curd on, made instant pot butternut squash risotto and cooked a big steak sous vide. (Once seared, that steak was just right. And there are leftovers!)
