And I have no idea if you’re joking or not!
Do people make their own custom salt blends? It seems like a good idea. Surely people do?

The kid and I went gathering. They are unsalted, and will largely remain so. Though I guess in pies they sometimes suggest a pinch, plus some in the crust.
I was joking, but of course you’re right. For instance, my friend doesn’t like full-strength smoked sea salts, but would probably enjoy them if they were “diluted” with regular sea salt.
Are those red currants?
So hard to get in the States. (There was a reason, but I don’t think it matters anymore.)
They’re montmorency cherries (a sour cherry), though the place we pick fruit does have currants and gooseberries. They were once illegal, may still be illegal in some places due to their being a vector for some rot, I don’t know if it was fungal or bacterial.
Oh, that’s a good idea! We have a little jar of applewood smoked sea salt and have had it for ages because it’s so potent, I never really know what to use it for.
And of course I always forget about it the few times a year we do a grilled hunk of meat…
Oddly, as soon as I thought about it today I thought of some kind of savory popcorn or savory version of rice crispy treats…is that even a thing? Off to research!
I tend to use smoked sea salt for sides rather than anything grilled or smoked. I’m already getting the smokey flavor for those. I use the smoked salt for the potato salad, coleslaw, or other side to pair them up better with the main dish.
sounds like it would be a nice add to punch up a mac-n-cheese bake with bacon.
Yum!
We don’t get that around here, but whenever I see it, I think it looks like less reticent Brussels sprouts.
Early in our courting, my gf and I were hiking somewhere, and I found some purslane growing out of some concrete. She was taken with the idea (as I’ve always been), that something edible and tasty can break its way through concrete, and we talk every now and then about having a purslane farm on just shattered fields of concrete.
Those look amazing… but I have to say… when I first read that, my brain made it into “muffin tin farts” not tarts…
I’m sorry… good work, though, they look delicious!
Made a small pork roast so today I made Cubano sandwiches. Probably not totally authentic, but very tasty.
I was just talking about this my son; how it would be nice to have a consumer version of the kinds of commercial toaster ovens that they use at places like Starbucks. This looks like it would be similar, if it lives up to it’s billing.
The guys at Sorted food did a review of this fairly recently. Is this £260 Toaster GENIUS or an Absolute Waste of Money?! - YouTube
