The vice president’s rapid response team shared that more than 7 million people watched her interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier on Wednesday, compared to the 3 million who tuned in to the Republican nominee’s Fox News town hall with Harris Faulkner earlier in the day.

Bret Baier has also now “admitted” that he played the wrong clip on that question about Trump’s “enemy within” comments, saying he thought they played the unedited clip rather than an edited one. He’s full of shit, of course, but it’s an admission that she got the better of him in that exchange.
I think what happened is that Baier and everyone at Fox forgot that the messaging that Harris isn’t smart and can’t speak coherently was a lie. They had said it so much that they started believing it, and forgot that she has a ton of actual courtroom prosecutorial experience. Not just debate team experience, but real world experience in confrontational speech. Baier was massively outgunned. He thought he would debate her as Trump proxy, and I think he may have done worse than Trump would have.

Looked to me like a prime example of white male hubris. How could a lady possibly stand up to an aggressive, domineering man? (A rhetorical question he and whoever helped him prep seemed to take for granted.)
So satisfying to see her slice off his arse and hand it to him. All while keeping relatively cool headed and logical (which made it harder for Fox and its viewers to do what they’ll nevertheless do-- dismiss her as an hysterical and irrational liar).

Baier also damaged his reputation with that nonsense. Since Shepard Smith left Fox, Baier has allegedly been the remaining objective journalist, and he’s intentionally played that up by occasionally criticizing Trump (usually on very minor shit). That interview revealed who he really is, and a lot of other journalists and pundits have been calling him out on it over the last day and a half. Lawrence O’Donnell especially really called him out. So I think Baier is in damage control mode now.

Maybe, externally? I imagine his performance was a hit within the walls of the Fox silo. He was combative with the lying, uppity commie lady. Seems like exactly the way Fox viewers would want him to be. And it’s not like he had a great reputation externally as a serious journalist before the interview.

Yes, I should have clarified that. But I’ve heard some liberals and leftists describe him as the only one at Fox who ever gives real news. That myth has been busted now, and he busted it himself.

I feel embarrassed that I wasn’t aware of this. I saw a stupid meme on X with a bunch of made up bs about Harris, but it included a bit of truth: that Harris went to high school in a school in a pretty ritzy neighborhood in Montreal. She hasn’t talked about her experience there much. I think she should. As someone quoted in this article says, she was a “minority within a minority within a minority.” It’s an interesting story.
