I read a piece on NPR’s website over the weekend talking to “progressive” voters who (oh dear god) aren’t inspired by Kamala or have hurt feelings that she’s trying to reach out to a broader base:

I am not sure how people don’t understand that she needs people to vote for her to win the election. IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU ALL THE TIME! What can I guarantee? Your concerns will absolutely NOT be addressed by Trump or your protest vote for Jill Freakin’ Stein.

But I find Michelle Obama speaks for me on this one:

I’m pretty far left. My biggest issue with Democrats is that while Republicans like to cast them in the role of the “Loony Left,” they’re way too far to the right for me to really be happy with them.

However:

I will vote for almost any Democrat, especially over a Republican, because with our system that’s the best choice for getting closer to a good result. I can work with the Democrat that might be lukewarm about my personal issues verses the Republican that wants people like me imprisoned or dead.

Voting is a bus system, not a taxi. You’re probably not going to find one that’s going directly to where you want to go, so you better get on the one that’s at least going the right direction.

I like your bus analogy. I was always thought of it a bit more roughly, of doing my part to drag the country, slowly but hopefully surely, toward the basic equality we desperately need.

Just be glad that you aren’t being offered three destinations further away from what you want, like in Britain earlier this year, and beware of Democrats getting infected with TERF brainworms, like Labour did here.

It’s always good to be aware of. We’re not a colony anymore, but we haven’t drifted THAT far apart, either.

Britain voted to destroy the Tories, and succeeded to a considerable extent.

Unfortunately, beating the devil is not enough. You need a plan to rebuild.

The US still needs to beat the devil, though.
