I guess switching out kids every few years (as was also done on the Peanuts specials) beats this alternative. Walter Tetley was a voice actor during the golden age of radio. He started acting as a child. The rumor in Hollywood was that his mother had him castrated so his voice wouldn’t change. He continued to do child voices until he was severely injured in a motorcycle accident at age 55… People today are most likely to recognize him as the voice of Sherman in the Mr. Peabody segments of Rocky & Bullwinkle.
