Ever see those speed detectors, usually in work zones, e.g., “YOUR SPEED: 56 MPH” ?
Something like that: “YOUR TRUCK IS: 11’9” - YOU WILL CRASH"

Drivers may be more responsive to an explicit threat rather than the vague “command” OVERHEIGHT MUST TURN

But again,

I bet a lot of sub-11’8" trucks turn too, just to be on the safe side or maybe 'cause of the rumors.

A crew measured the clearance and found it to actually be 11’10.8" (thus providing a safety margin).
